Privacy Policy

1 General Information

ListeningClassroom.com is an independent web project. This policy explains what information the site collects, how it is used, and what choices you have as a visitor.

The site is free to access, does not require creating a user account, and does not ask you to log in.

2 Data the Site Collects by Default

Without your consent, the site runs entirely in your browser and does not send personal data to external services. In particular:

  • Text you enter in the Generator is processed locally in your browser by the Kokoro TTS model. It is not sent to any server, and is not stored once you leave the page.
  • Audio files you generate are produced in your browser and downloaded directly to your computer. They are not uploaded to or stored on our servers.
  • Server logs: Static hosting (GitHub Pages) may record basic request metadata (such as IP address and user-agent) as part of normal operation. These logs are managed by the hosting provider and are used for security and operational purposes only.

3 Cookies, Analytics and Advertising

The site may load the following third-party services, but only after you accept non-essential cookies through the consent banner shown at the bottom of the page:

  • Google Tag Manager (GTM-KTXQJMMH) — used to manage which scripts run on the site.
  • Google Analytics 4 (G-E1D8VDYM6D) — used to count visits and understand which pages are useful.
  • Google AdSense (ca-pub-7086938365759492) — if enabled, used to display ads that help keep the project free.

When you request an MP3, the browser also loads the LAME encoder from the jsDelivr content delivery network for audio encoding. This request is made only when needed; the text and generated audio remain in your browser and are not sent to jsDelivr by the site.

The consent banner offers three choices presented with equal visual weight: Accept cookies, Limit personalised ads (loads non-personalised ads through Google) and Reject non-essential (loads nothing). If you reject, none of the scripts above are loaded and no analytics or advertising cookies are set. If you accept, these services may set their own cookies and use identifiers such as IP address and browser type to provide their features. You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time through Google's Ad Settings.

Note: You can change your choice at any time using the floating 🍪 Cookies button at the bottom-left of the page. Selecting an option reopens the banner without clearing your browser data. Your choice is stored locally for up to 12 months, after which the banner will be shown again. You can also clear the storage at any time through your browser settings.

4 California Residents (CCPA / CPRA)

ListeningClassroom does not sell or share personal information for monetary or other valuable consideration, and it does not sell or share the personal information of users under 16. The third-party advertising and analytics services listed in section 3 may, however, process identifiers such as IP address and browser type as service providers under California's privacy rules.

California residents have the right to opt out of the "sale or sharing" of personal information and to limit the use of sensitive personal information. You can exercise this right at any time by clicking the 🍪 Cookies button and choosing Limit personalised ads, which loads Google AdSense with the non-personalised setting (npa=1) and signals denied consent for ad_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization through Google Tag Manager.

You may also submit a request to know, delete or correct personal information we hold about you by emailing the address in section 7. We respond to verifiable requests within the periods required by California law.

5 Minors

The site is aimed at adults who prepare English teaching materials (educators, tutors, parents). It is not directed at children and the project does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13.

If you believe a child has provided personal information through the contact form or email, please contact us so we can delete it.

6 File Downloads

The Generator lets you download audio files (MP3) for use in presentations or virtual classrooms. These files:

  • Do not contain tracking software, beacons, or malware.
  • Are standard MP3 audio files produced locally in your browser.
  • Are never uploaded to or stored on our servers.

7 Third-Party Links

Articles and guides may link to external resources (such as model repositories or research references) for context. Once you follow such a link, you leave this site and are subject to the privacy practices of the destination site.
