🎯 What ListeningClassroom Is

ListeningClassroom is an independent web project created to make English listening activities easier to produce and use in the classroom. It combines a free browser-based audio tool with a small library of listening exercises and teaching guides.

The project started from a simple need: creating downloadable English listening audio for classroom activities without requiring complicated software, accounts, or paid subscriptions. It is maintained as a personal project, not as a company, institution, or commercial product.

👩‍🏫 Who It Is For

ListeningClassroom is designed to help people who prepare English listening materials, including:

  • ESL / EFL teachers creating listening exercises for their students.
  • Language tutors who need pronunciation models and reading-aloud examples.
  • Curriculum developers building audio content for e-learning platforms.
  • Classroom teachers who need MP3 audio for PowerPoint, Google Slides, or other materials.

The exercises and guides are written for a range of levels (A1, A2, B1). They are not part of any accredited programme and the project is not affiliated with a specific institution.

⚙️ How the Audio Tool Works

The Generator uses a neural text-to-speech model called Kokoro TTS, which runs entirely in your browser through WebAssembly. In practice this means:

  • Your text is never sent to any server — generation happens locally on your device.
  • The voice model may be cached by your browser after it is downloaded. Whether it can be used offline later depends on the browser and its cache.
  • No account, no API key, and no subscription are required. The tool is free to use at this time.
Quick Listen mode uses your browser's built-in Web Speech API for instant playback. Download MP3 mode uses the Kokoro neural model to render and export an MP3 file.

🔒 Privacy by Default

The tool is built with privacy as a baseline, since it may be used to prepare materials for students:

  • No text you enter is stored or transmitted to a server.
  • No user accounts or personal data are collected.
  • Audio files are generated locally and downloaded directly to your computer.
